Circuit VTT - Tour de Courchevel
Descriptive
Walks close to resorts, through woods and mountain pastures. Wide paths, ideal for families. Difficulty: red circuit.
The route starts with a gradual ascent through the forest of Le Praz to Courchevel 1850, passing through La Tania, then on to Lac de la Rosière and ending with a passage through the Montcharvet meadow. A great cross-country race!
(1286 m) From the Le Praz tourist office, take the road towards the Olympic ski jumps. At the roundabout at the foot of the ski jumps, follow the asphalt road up to the entrance to La Tania (1363 m / 2 km). Continue in the direction of Méribel to the Col de Creux Loup (1456 m / 4.17).
At the pass, take the "Lac Bleu" forest track on the left to the first crossroads (1520 m / 5.10 km), where you turn right in the direction of "Col de la Loze". This path climbs steadily through the forest to another junction (1626 m / 6.92 km), where this time you must keep left to reach the Bouc Blanc crossroads 800 m away.
At the Bouc Blanc crossroads, take the flat road towards Courchevel 1850. At the bottom of the resort, don't take the asphalt road on the right, but take the path on the left over the bridge and go around the barriers on the left, to find at the end the path that runs off to the side to join the toboggan run (1718 m / 10.7 km).
Go left down the toboggan track and 100 m below the building, take the track on the right towards "Plan du Vah" and 200 m further on, cross the track to catch up with the path 10 m higher up to reach the Plan du Vah crossroads (1650 m / 12.3km). Turn left to cross the D91a departmental road and join the "Tuffs" path heading towards Courchevel 1650. After crossing a small river, the path climbs for 50 m to a first crossroads, where you must keep left towards Courchevel 1650. 500 m further on, another crossroads appears, and this time you must take the path that climbs to the right. The path then becomes flatter, but very difficult to find. Cross the meadow on the side of the mountain to reach Pylon n°6 of the Belvédère ski lift. At the pylon, go back up the forest track for 50 m and turn left to join the asphalt road at the bend.
bend (1665 m / 13.9 km). Follow the road to the right and after 200 m, just past the Hôtel le Zénith, turn left towards Lac de la Rosière. At the entrance to the Rosière site (1541 m / 16.2 km), there's a refreshment area open to the public.
Cross the bridge a few metres from the refreshment area, turn left and then right after 50 m towards "La Jairaz". Just after passing the
dam, the path becomes steep until you reach an intersection with a concrete bridge on the right, you are now at "Plan du Fou" (1315 m / 17.9 km). Cross the bridge and take the steep path on the left. Yes, you'll have to push your mountain bike! The climb is tough, but not very long (200 m). At the summit (1366 m / 18.1 km) take the balcony path on the left towards Montcharvet.
You'll come to the top of the Montcharvet meadow (1326 m / 18.8 km) and the path is hard to find. Continue downhill and turn
right to reach the other meadow. You'll see a sign pointing you in the direction of Montcharvet.
Go through the village and continue along the forest track to the river bridge (1260 m / 19.5 km). At the intersection 200 m after the bridge, take the track opposite and follow signs for "Le Praz". The path is smooth except at one point before the bridge over the Gravelles stream, where you'll need to carry your bike a few metres.
When you reach Le Praz and the end of the path, continue straight ahead on Rue des Cerisiers as far as the chapel. Then turn left and take the first right to
to the right to reach the tourist office.
